Don’t miss your opportunity to show support for local Greensboro Marines – plan to take part in the 1st Annual USMCR Freedom 5k Run/Walk. Run in a 5k chip-timed course starting and ending at the Triad Armed Forces Reserve Center. Run with a group of over 200 local Marines, some of which will be will be running in formation and calling military cadences the entire route. After the run/walk, you can take a tour of the Reserve Training Facility, where Reserve elements of the US Navy, US Army, and the US Marines train. There will be various items on display including Communications Equipment, military gear and weapons, as well as humvee rides. This will be a great event to show your support for the Marines that live and work in our local community. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Hope for the Warriors™. These contributions go directly to support the special needs of those wounded in current conflicts.

The Course
Race is a road course and will start and finish at the Triad Armed Forces Reserve Center. The course is modeled off of the actual course the Marines use to do their annual PFT (Physical Fitness Testing).
Directions
I-40 business and take the NC-68 exit, EXIT 210, toward HIGH POINT/PTI AIRPORT - Take the ramp toward PIEDMONT TRIAD INTL AIRPORT - Merge onto NC-68 N/LYNWOOD SMITH EXPY toward PIEDMONT TRIAD INTL AIRPORT. - Turn LEFT onto TRIAD CENTER DR. - Turn RIGHT to stay on TRIAD CENTER DR. - Turn LEFT onto THATCHER RD. – Parking will be available on the RIGHT. There will be signs and volunteers to direct you.
Packet Pickup
Packets will be available to pick up at the Triad Armed Forces Reserve Center from noon - 8 pm on Friday, October 9, 2009. Packet pickup is also available starting at 0700 on race day.
